"International Music Competition Hohenpriessnitz 2019" will take place during the International Music Festival "Schlossfestspiele" from 9 to 11 of July 2019.

This competition's aim is to promote participants of the master classes in Hohenpriessnitz and other young musicians (age limit: 35). Musicians from all over the world are welcome. The highly competent and independent jury consists of the master classes' faculty members. Participation in the competition brings international attention to the young musicians, especially from the competition's organisers. The competition is open for violin, viola, cello and string quartets.

The competition will take place on July 9th and 11th 2019. The program is a piece of free choice, up to 15 minutes long. The auditions will take place on July 9th and 11th 2019, 19:30. An accompanist will be provided by the competition. A maximum of 6 participants are allowed in the second round. The second round - final - will take place on July 11th, 2019, the result will be determined by the audience. The winners will be announced immediately and the prizes will be awarded. There is no application fee for the master classes participants, for all others the application fee is € 100. Registration to the competition only is accepted via e-mail:

Competition regulations

  • The International Music Competition will take place on July 9th and 11th 2019 in the Schloss Hohenprießnitz and consists of two rounds.
  • Violinists, violists, cellists and string chamber ensembles of all nationalities are admitted to the competition.
  • The age limit is 35 years (born after 9th of July 1984).
  • Deadline for the registration is 1 of June, 2019.
  • Non-participants of the master classes at the international music festival "Schlossfestspiele" pay a registration fee of € 100 per participant.
  • Program: a piece of choice approx. 15 min. long
